A very negative season for AC Milan will have obvious consequences, with some major changes planned ahead of the 2025-26 season.
According to Corriere dello Sport, there will be a ‘revolution’ at the top levels of the club. Desks will be cleared, new ones will be added, some offices will see tenants move, there will be a new coach, significant sales and several signings.
The first figure that will be introduced is that of the new sporting director. In pole position is Igli Tare, former director at Lazio for 15 years alongside Claudio Lotito.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Gerry Cardinale met him last week in London, but a new meeting is planned for next week to better define the issue and only then will they make a decision.
With the postponement of the meeting, therefore, it is not to be excluded that – in addition to the option of Fabio Paratici – there could be a new surprise name that emerges, whether from the Italian or foreign market.
Inside the Rossoneri management, on the other hand, there is no single idea that has unanimous agreement about how to get things back on track. In fact, there is even talk of a strong divide.
It is a normal situation within a working group with many minds: there are different ideas, but then it is important to reach a common solution that, in this specific case, is in the best interest of the club.
The only certain thing at the moment is that Geoffrey Moncada – with the arrival of the new sporting director – will return more permanently to the role that is most congenial to him: chief scout.
He will have tasks that keep him in close contact with the sporting part of the management of course, still formed by Ibrahimovic (Senior Advisor of Red Bird) and Giorgio Furlani (the CEO).
The choice of the sporting director will be followed by that of the new coach for next year and the player pool for the next season. In the meantime, however, the current one must be finished with dignity.
Sergio Conceiçao, on the eve of the match against Lazio, had promised that from the match against the Biancocelesti onwards a new season would begin for Milan.
It is clear that what has happened up to now cannot be erased and reset, because the team carry the (few) points won in the 27 league games already played, but having full weeks of work available can only benefit the coach and the players.
Then, the intention – and the objective – is that it is only a transition period. The club considers the failure to qualify for a European competition, whatever it may be, unacceptable.
The Champions League is unattainable, but they will have to fight until the end for the Europa League (also possible with the victory of the Coppa Italia) or, at least, for the Conference League.
The revolution at the top levels, after all, will serve precisely to avoid certain situations from repeating themselves next year.
