CorSport: Milan willing to battle with Liverpool and PSG over Monaco midfielder | OneFootball

AC Milan are looking to bolster the squad with a defensive midfielder this summer and Youssouf Fofana has ended up at the top of their wish list. According to a report, they are not scared of the fierce competition either.

Under the guidance of Stefano Pioli, and with a lack of balance in midfield, Milan conceded way too many goals last season and were only saved by a high output in attack. Therefore, before the 2024-25 season kicks off, the goal is to have a defensive midfielder in place.

According to Corriere dello Sport, as cited by Football Italia, Fofana has been identified as one of the main targets and Milan are willing to get stuck in – despite the heavy competition. The likes of Liverpool, PSG and Tottenham are also monitoring the situation, which says a lot.

Fofana has a price tag of €20-25m, per the report, and this is mainly because his contract will expire next summer. Geoffrey Moncada is hoping that he can secure a ‘bargain’ in that sense, and that other top clubs will drop out of the race for other targets.

It remains to be seen if the technical director will succeed, but if not, he will have to bring in another defensive midfielder.
