Costa Rica, Mexico, USA win to start WU17 Qualifiers Final Round

MIAMI – The Final Round of the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Qualifiers kicked off on Monday with the opening matches in Groups A and C.
Group A action saw Costa Rica get off to a winning start against Haiti, while United States defeated Trinidad and Tobago. Group C got underway with Mexico victorious against Bermuda, while El Salvador and Honduras resulted in a draw.
Group A
Haiti 0, Costa Rica 8
The first game of the Final Round presented an 8-nil win for Costa Rica against Haiti at Mini Estadio de la Federación Mexicana de Fútbol in Toluca, Mexico.
Veronica Solano got the opener for Costa Rica in the 19’, finishing inside the penalty area to capitalize on a delivery from the right flank.
Lucia Paniagua scored back-to-back goals in the 19’ and 27’ to extend the lead for Las Ticas with two precise left-footed finishes to the back post.
Costa Rica then struck twice in added time to go into the half leading 5-0, with Fabiana Arguello scoring in the 45+2’ and Paniagua securing a first half-hat trick in the 45+4’.
Raquel Recio got her name onto the scoresheet in the 61’with a powerful header inside the penalty area.
Nubia Medina in the 71’, with an assist from Paniagua, and Alisha Lindo in the 84’ rounded out the result for Costa Rica.
Mexico 5, Bermuda 0
Mexico defeated Bermuda 5-nil at Mini Estadio de la Federación Mexicana de Fútbol in Toluca, Mexico in the second Group A match of the day.
Mexico opened the scoring with two quick goals succession in the 15’ and 16’, with Citlalli Reyes and Joselyn Solis striking to give the Tricolor the lead.
In similar fashion, Anaiya Miyazato and Valeria Vázquez netted back-to-back goals in the 50’ and 52’ to extend Mexico’s lead.
Mia Villalpando closed out the win with the final goal for Mexico in the 90+8’.
Group B
El Salvador, 1, Honduras 1
El Salvador and Honduras opened Group B with a 1-1 draw at Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.
El Salvador struck first in the 13’, with Maya Buerger firing from close range.
Jazlyn Sanchez equalized for Honduras in the 61’, scoring with a header inside the penalty area to capitalize on a ball into the box from a set piece opportunity.
United States 3, Trinidad and Tobago 0
Three second half goals led United States to a 3-nil win against Trinidad and Tobago at Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago in the final game of the opening day of the Final Round.
USA found the breakthrough goal in the 63’, with Ashlyn Anderson getting a hold of a loose ball inside the box before finishing with the outside of the foot to sending the ball to the back of the net.
Micayla Johnson extended the lead for USA in the 78’with an acrobatic right footed finish from close range.
Chloe Sadler scored the third of the day in the 90’, burying the ball in the bottom left corner of the net with a right-footed hit.
