West Brom have confirmed that James Morrison will remain as interim boss for the rest of the season, but could Carlos Corberan return?
West Bromwich Albion have confirmed that James Morrison will remain in interim charge until the end of the season, but Baggies supporters are wondering whether Carlos Corberan could return as their next permanent boss.
Corberan led West Brom to the Championship play-offs at the end of a successful 2023/24 season, but they were ultimately beaten at the semi-final stage by eventual promotion winners Southampton.
The Spaniard left the Hawthorns in December 2024 to join La Liga outfit Valencia, and steered the Mestalla outfit to a 12th-place finish last campaign.
West Brom have struggled for stability since Corberan's exit, and are now staring at the very genuine possibility of suffering relegation to League One.

Corberan guided Valencia away from relegation danger last season, but they are now just five points above the drop zone in the Spanish top flight, leading to question marks over his future.
Meanwhile, Leicester City's six-point deduction is the only reason why the Baggies are not currently in the Championship drop zone ahead of Saturday's trip to Sheffield United.
Football League World's Albion fan pundit, Callum Burgess, backed West Brom to reappoint Corberan before the West Midlands side announced that Morrison would be staying until the end of the season: "The answer's obvious, you'd definitely be contacting him straight away, to see if there's any way possible to bring Corberan back to the football club.
"Quite frankly, you're not going to get a better manager than him, who's going to be available, whether it's until the end of the season or beyond that.
"I'd really doubt that he'd want to return to The Hawthorns, so it's probably very, very, very unlikely to happen, but, obviously, you'd be contacting them straight away, and it's a very obvious answer to that question."
If West Brom avoid relegation to League One, though, reappointing the 42-year-old could become more likely, as he remains a popular figure among supporters, and could be keen to return to the West Midlands, provided that he can oversee the summer transfer window before the next Championship season gets underway.
Even if Valencia get relegated at the end of the La Liga campaign, the Baggies should not hesitate to reacquire his services, as they know how good he can be in the second tier of English football.
However, if Albion fall to League One, the former West Brom boss won't want to venture into the third tier.

Since Corberan left The Hawthorns in December 2024, Albion have failed to appoint a successful manager.
The Spaniard's initial successor was Tony Mowbray, who had hoped to enjoy a positive second stint with the Black Country club, having guided them to the Championship title back in 2009.
However, Mowbray, who turned 62 in November, was sacked by West Brom last April, having failed to establish the strong play-off credentials that owner Shilen Patel wanted.
The Baggies then tried another route by hiring young manager Ryan Mason ahead of the current campaign, but the former Tottenham and Hull City midfielder was sacked following a run of 10 consecutive defeats in the Championship.
Reappointing Corberan, meanwhile, should he be open to the move, would reestablish some stability and end the need to keep chopping and changing in the dugout.
