There is a great deal of uncertainty as the summer approaches for OGC Nice. Their top-flight status is not yet confirmed and AJ Auxerre’s win over Stade Brestois has seen the gap to the relegation play-off spot close to just five points.
But the uncertainty is everywhere. INEOS are looking to sell the club, Maurice Cohen and Jean-Pierre Rivere are only in the co-president position on an interim basis, Claude Puel is manager on an interim basis, and following errors in recruitment last summer, sporting director Florian Maurice’s future is in question. Nice-Matin understands that Maurice could leave Nice at the end of the season.
However, Puel could remain at the club. The former AS Saint-Étienne manager has not taken Le Gym out of their difficult situation in the league, although the club do remain in the Coupe de France and will face RC Strasbourg Alsace in the semi-finals. As things stand, Nice-Matin understands that Puel remains the favourite to be Nice manager next season, although there is a lot of uncertainty, as there is at every level of the club.
