Could Lassine Sinayoko’s move to Lens collapse?

Lassine Sinayoko (25) had looked all set for a move to RC Lens. He had been a target for OGC Nice throughout the window, before Lens then came in and scuppered the deal at the last. The forward was all set to play his final game for AJ Auxerre, against Nice on Saturday, before travelling for a medical in Lens on Sunday.

However, the Mali international never turned up for that medical, with Auxerre not giving the green light for the player to travel, as per L’Équipe. The version of events between the two clubs differs. Auxerre state that the details of the deal have not been ironed out, notably details involving the player’s entourage.

Lens, however, state that the deal is fully agreed and in writing. “The management have done everything they had to, have done the procedures that have been asked of them, so the documents are written out. You have to respect what is written,” said Lens manager Pierre Sage on Sunday.

The night before, in a press conference attended by Get French Football News, AJA manager Christophe Pélissier expressed a desire to keep the player. That came at a time when Sinayoko’s €6.5m move to Lens looked to have been wrapped up. The move may have taken a dramatic U-turn and, naturally, there will be further talks between the two clubs to explore the next steps.
