According to Darren Witcoop, the Crystal Palace player could be set for a return to the Championship during the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old spent last season on loan with Sheffield United, where he contributed seven goals and two assists from 34 regular league appearances, helping the Blades earn a third place finish.

However, the team’s failure to gain promotion to the Premier League with a play-off final loss to Sunderland led to his return to Selhurst Park.

Rak-Sakyi has spent the first half of this campaign in Turkey with Rizespor, where he has scored four times from 11 appearances in the Super Lig.

Coventry and Swansea have both made an enquiry to Crystal Palace regarding a potential loan move for Rak-Sakyi.

The Sky Blues are aiming to bolster their attacking options as they set their sights on automatic promotion to the Premier League this season.

Meanwhile, this January will be Vitor Matos’ first chance to make improvements to the Swansea first team squad after he was appointed as their head coach in November.

It’s believed that the two Championship sides are keen to sign Rak-Sakyi, who has become a consistent presence in the Rizespor team since making his debut on 28 September.

The winger has been unable to make a breakthrough into the Crystal Palace first team squad, and the impending arrival of Brennan Johnson could see him fall even further down the pecking order.

It remains to be seen whether the Eagles will be willing to sanction a move back to the second tier this January, or if they will prefer to keep him in Turkey.

Coventry lead the Championship table, while Swansea are looking to string together a run of form that can move them into play-off contention.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi signing would be great business for either Coventry or Swansea

Rak-Sakyi showed last year that he can perform to a high standard in the Championship, contributing to Sheffield United’s promotion push.

It has the potential to be a very strong addition at Swansea, who could use the additional firepower to help climb the table in the second half of the campaign.

Coventry are in a more comfortable position in the standings, but are at risk of being quite light in attack if they suffer one or two injuries.
