Frank Lampard has been in charge of the Sky Blues since November 2024 and in his second full season with the club he has guided them back into the top flight.

Coventry City went into Friday night's clash with Blackburn Rovers needing just a single point to secure their promotion.

After a goalless first half at Ewood Park, Ryōya Morishita delivered a hammer blow to Lampard's men as he opened the scoring from close range, putting the hosts deservedly ahead.

Coventry, though, kept pushing and with five minutes left on the clock Bobby Thomas unleashed a header to level the scoreline and send those watching on both in the stadium and from afar into absolute delirium.

It's a deserved feat for the West Midlands side who have enjoyed a remarkable Championship campaign and now sit on 86 points with three games left to play.

Coventry initially enjoyed a 34-year stay in the English top flight but that was brought to a cruel end in May 2001.

After more than a decade in the Championship, they were then relegated to League One in 2012 and then to League Two in 2017.

Promotions in 2018 and 2020 followed and now their Premier League exile is over as they're set to return once again.
