Coventry City have been advised to reluctantly let Jack Rudoni go this summer for the right price, with Newcastle United circling round the attacking midfielder.

Newcastle sent some of their scouts to watch a number of Coventry games this season, according to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail, with Rudoni the focus of their trips.

The Magpies are eyeing up the midfielder as a potential replacement for Sean Longstaff, with Newcastle clearly impressed by the 23-year-old’s performances this term.

Coventry City issued Jack Rudoni stance amid Newcastle interest

Coventry City’s FLW fan pundit, Chris Deez, believes that Rudoni’s sale may be inevitable, but hopes Coventry can get the most out of the potential deal.

“We absolutely love Jack Rudoni,” exclaimed Chris. “I can't imagine you'll find a single Coventry fan who doesn't. I don't think you'll find anyone who wants to see him go.

“It'd be surprising to see him move to Newcastle, but only because I don't think that he would get into their starting 11. He’s had great season for us, and he came off the back of having a good season for Huddersfield.

“I think the ideal situation for all parties would be £15-20 million for him, all things considered, the fact that we paid £5 million and how long he's got left on his contract.

“Ideally, Newcastle would leave him here on loan for another season while we look at hopefully getting promoted or at least into the play-offs. He's an extremely good player, incredibly talented, but I don't think he's a regular Premier League starter for at least another season or two.

“I think it'd be like when James Maddison left us and we kept him on loan for the rest of the season. If we don't do something massive in the coming season, whether it be automatic promotion or play-offs, I wouldn't begrudge him for leaving at all.

“But it would be nice to keep him here for a bit longer, for either a six-month or season-long loan, and £15-20 million would soften the blow.”

A move to Newcastle could prove risky for Rudoni

Although the midfielder has impressed at Coventry under Frank Lampard, a step up to a Champions League outfit might be a step too far for Rudoni at this point in his career.

Eddie Howe is understandably reluctant to move away from his preferred midfield trio of Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Sandro Tonali when they are all fit and healthy, so barring injuries, it would be unrealistic to see Rudoni break into the Newcastle starting 11.

Therefore, the player will have to assess what he truly believes is the best move for his career, and avoid making a decision that could potentially halt his development.
