Coventry City and their supporters have been on cloud nine for the past week or so, with the club sealing its long-awaited return to the Premier League in remarkable fashion.

After earning promotion through a 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers on April 17th, the Championship title was sewn up with a 5-1 rout over Portsmouth at the CBS Arena last week, with the Sky Blues players, manager Frank Lampard and owner, Doug King, subsequently parading the silverware after another impressive display and 3-1 win over play-off-chasing Wrexham on Sunday afternoon.

The West Midlands outfit end their campaign away to Watford on Saturday lunchtime, as they will go in search of a 28th win of the season before preparing for life back in the top-flight.

Despite previously being an established side amongst English football's elite, the Premier League's current state is likely to unlock levels of finances that the Sky Blues could only dream of a matter of years ago, and it is no surprise that the transfer rumour mill is already in a state of overdrive when assessing the players who Lampard could bolster his squad with ahead of next season.

With that being said, Football League World have rounded up the latest major transfer news surrounding City.

Carl Rushworth drops latest transfer hint as Coventry City plot permanent Brighton agreement

One of the standout performers in Coventry's title-winning term has been Brighton and Hove Albion loanee and goalkeeper, Carl Rushworth.

The 24-year-old has kept a divisional-high tally of 16 clean sheets whilst playing each Championship game, and has earned plenty of plaudits as a result.

Indeed, it has been claimed that the man who is yet to make his competitive Brighton debut is already on the periphery of the England senior squad, whilst his parent club are demanding a fee of between £15m and £20m as Coventry look to fend off Premier League interest and secure a permanent deal.

Rushworth has continuously spoken about his immediate affinity with the Sky Blues and their fanbase, and he dropped a potential hint after the second tier trophy was lifted in CV6 on Sunday.

"What a feeling, honestly, I can't put it into words," he said.

"To have your backing, it's unbelievable, and I am so proud of the lads and to you as fans, to get us over the line.

"I'm looking forward to what's next, hopefully, but that's Doug (King)'s problem," Rushworth added.

Coventry City eye Kevin Mac Allister transfer amid top-flight competition

It remains to be seen which players will sign on the dotted line for City in pre-season once the summer transfer window opens in mid-June.

However, another name linked with a potential switch to the CBS Arena is Union Saint-Gilloise defender, Kevin Mac Allister, the brother of Liverpool ace, Alexis.

TEAMtalk report that the Sky Blues are not the only Premier League side interested in a move for the 28-year-old centre-back, who has over 20 appearances in European competition under his belt, as well as one cap for the Argentinian national side.

Indeed, Mac Allister is also being monitored by the quartet of Brighton, Everton, Fulham and Leeds United, with the Seagulls also linked to the Belgian Pro League side through owner, Tony Bloom, who is a minority stakeholder at the Stade Joseph Marien.

Ajax face Coventry, Wolves transfer battle for Stoke City star

Another potential arrival for Coventry could be Stoke City winger, Million Manhoef.

It has been claimed, again, by TEAMtalk that Lampard's side are facing a transfer battle from Eredivisie giants, Ajax and newly-relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers for the 24-year-old, who has impressed in a season of inconsistency for the Potters under modern-day Sky Blues hero, Mark Robins.

Manhoef set Stoke back £3.4m in the winter of 2024, and has scored 18 times in 99 appearances at the Bet365 Stadium, with seven of those strikes coming across 47 outings in all competitions so far this campaign.

James Maddison tipped for potential Coventry City return amid Spurs exit talk

Plenty of other transfer moves have also been debated, which include a reunion with Sheffield United's Gustavo Hamer, and another has now been discussed amid exit talk surrounding former Sky Blues academy graduate and supporter, James Maddison, at Tottenham Hotspur.

The playmaker has recently returned to the matchday squad in North London under Roberto De Zerbi after previously being sidelined with an ACL injury in August, as he awaits his first competitive minutes of the season.

Football Insider have now speculated whether a return to his hometown club could be in the offing for the 29-year-old, a decade after he departed for Norwich City in a £2.5m deal, after previously scoring five goals and posting as many assists in 42 games for Coventry.

Maddison's current employers and City could also be in different divisions when the transfer window reopens, with Spurs still two points inside the relegation zone behind West Ham United, even after securing a first Premier League victory since December away to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.

Maddison has been spotted attending matches at the CBS in recent years, and played 28 minutes of Tottenham's narrow EFL Cup triumph against the Sky Blues in September 2024 under Ange Postecoglou.
