Coventry City are considering smashing their club transfer record to bring in Hull City defender, Charlie Hughes.
Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has revealed, via X, that Frank Lampard's Sky Blues had an offer worth £7 million knocked back, and are now considering a new bid of £9 million (£8m + £1m add-ons) to bring in the 21-year-old, one year after the Tigers brought him to the club from Wigan Athletic for £3.5 million.
This would break their existing transfer record, which currently stands at £7.7 million, following the signing of Haji Wright from Antalyaspor in the summer of 2023.
Despite the potential record-breaking bid though, Hull are said to want to bring in more than £10 million for their star centre-back, in a transfer window where they have already let two defenders in the form of Alfie Jones and Sean McLoughlin depart for Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers respectively.
