Frank Lampard's Sky Blues are looking set for their first return to the Premier League since 2001, having recovered from a mid-season wobble that saw Middlesbrough leapfrog them at the top of the table, to now be on the cusp of seeing off the Teessiders, Ipswich Town and Millwall in the race for automatic promotion.

Wrexham, meanwhile, are licking their wounds following an FA Cup exit in the last month, but have their eyes firmly fixed on finishing in the top six and challenging for a fourth straight promotion that will take them from Non-League to the Premier League. Southampton's form is a problem for them, though.

On the back of whatever the next month or two brings, a big summer will await two clubs potentially plying their trade in the Premier League or, alternatively, planning another assault on promotion.

Attention, then, will be shifting onto the transfer window and where their respective squads can be improved.

According to Football Insider's Pete O'Rourke, Championship duo Coventry and Wrexham have joined Rangers in the race for FC Zurich striker Philippe Keny.

The 26-year-old joined the Swiss outfit this summer on a free transfer after his contract with Turkish outfit Istanbul Basaksehir expired, and less than 12 months later, it is believed Zurich would be looking for a fee between £4 million and £6 million to part ways this summer.

With 12 goals and two assists in 25 league games this season, the Senegalese forward has come onto the radar of numerous clubs across Europe, with both Coventry and Wrexham said to be tracking his situation ahead of a potential summer move.

As reported by Football Insider's Pete O'Rourke, Coventry and Wrexham are the latest clubs to have taken an interest in Zurich forward Keny.

The towering forward came through the ranks of Tours and Chateauroux in France, before a sublime season in the Turkish second tier with Bandirmaspor, scoring 11 goals and grabbing seven assists in 31 league games, which alerted the attention of capital-based side Istanbul Basaksehir, where he moved to in the summer of 2022.

In three years with the Grey Owls, Keny scored 13 goals and grabbed nine assists in 101 appearances across all competitions prior to his move to Switzerland this summer, where he has already surpassed his tally in Turkey.

His tremendous form has alerted clubs in the UK, Belgium, and France, as Zurich could look to make a quick profit on the striker this summer, as Coventry and Wrexham are set to challenge Danny Rohl's Rangers for his signature.

Rangers could sell Bojan Miovski this summer, making room for a potential move for Keny, whilst Coventry and Wrexham could well both be playing in the Premier League next season, in which instance would likely make them more attractive propositions.

Haji Wright has consistently been linked with a move away from the CBS Arena over the past year, whilst there remain doubts at Coventry about whether Ellis Simms can cut it in the top flight.

Wrexham, meanwhile, have relied on Sam Smith and Kieffer Moore for goals for most of this season, and Phil Parkinson's side could be looking for another alternative up top this summer, whether they earn promotion or not, as Keny has emerged as a candidate.

Coventry City and Wrexham will have already begun transfer preparations for next season amid Philippe Keny link

With both Coventry and Wrexham harnessing ambitions of Premier League football next season, it's little surprise to see them linked with multi-million-pound moves ahead of the summer window already.

Coventry in particular already has one foot in the top flight, and will likely already be working around the clock to sound out potential targets to improve their squad, and have seemingly outlined Keny as a potential option up top.

Wrexham look like a good bet for a place in the play-offs, and have already outlined their ambition in the transfer market in their first season in the Championship, with expensive deals for the likes of Nathan Broadhead, Callum Doyle, and Lewis O'Brien having been sanctioned.

As recently as the January window, Wrexham were battling European giants Fenerbahce for the signature of Angers' young French attacker Sidiki Cheriff, in a potential £19 million move which would have seen them break the Championship transfer record for a player coming to the division.

Though they would eventually lose out to the Turkish outfit, it was a clear statement of intent by the Welsh outfit and an indication of their willingness to splash the cash in the transfer window, with one eye on Premier League football.

Whether or not they achieve promotion this season, they will likely remain neck and neck with Coventry in the battle of Keny's signature, as the Senegalese forward appears to be hot property this summer.
