The Red and Greens announced the deal this evening via a post on their official club Twitter account.
The 26-year-old moves to the Butts Park Arena on a permanent deal with Newborough parting ways with former club Charlton Athletic by mutual consent.
Newborough is a committed defender who really does give every task 100 percent. The full-back won the old FA Women’s Super League 2 with Doncaster Rovers Belles in 2017/2018 while she has given three-and-a-half years of exemplary service to latest club Charlton Athletic. Newborough represented The Addicks on 30 occasions in the Barclays Women’s Championship, scoring one goal.
A player of Newborough’s quality is exactly what is needed by Coventry United given their current position at the bottom of the Barclays Women’s Championship table. The defender will bring leadership, organisation and plenty of courage to a Coventry United back-line which has conceded 37 goals in just 10 league matches. If the Warwickshire club are to begin to collect points, they must become more difficult to beat.
Newborough could go into the Coventry United squad for the first time when they travel to The Robins High Performance Centre to face Bristol City on Sunday.
