Craig Bellamy is set to be appointed the new Wales manager.

That is according to BBC Sport, who state that the 44-year-old has emerged as the first choice candidate to replace Rob Page, who was sacked last month.

Bellamy is currently with Burnley, where he was assistant manager to Vincent Kompany and is admired by new boss Scott Parker, but it is thought the allure of managing his country is too much to turn down.

The former striker, who made 78 appearances and scored 19 times for Wales as a player, missed out on the job in 2018 to Ryan Giggs but is now likely to be in charge for the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.

If he is appointed, the former Cardiff City man’s first game will be a Nations League friendly against Türkiye on September 6th.
