The Columbus Crew have announced the permanent transfer of winger Marino Hinestroza to Colombian club Atlético Nacional for an undisclosed fee.

Hinestroza, 22, joined the Crew in December 2023 from C.F. Pachuca, signing a contract through the 2026 season with an option for 2027. During his tenure with the Crew, he made 16 appearances, totaling 353 minutes, and scored two goals.

Despite his promising potential, Hinestroza’s impact in Columbus was limited. He netted his first goal for the Crew on March 30, 2024, in a 2-2 draw against Nashville SC. However, his season was marred by a red card for violent conduct on July 13, 2024, against Los Angeles FC, leading to a suspension. Subsequently, on July 26, 2024, he was loaned to Atlético Nacional for the remainder of the season.

Hinestroza’s early career included stints with Orsomarso in Colombia, Palmeiras U20 in Brazil, and América de Cali before moving to Pachuca, where he contributed to their Liga MX Apertura title in 2022.

The Crew expressed their gratitude to Hinestroza, stating, “The Columbus Crew have completed the permanent transfer of Marino Hinestroza to Atlético Nacional for an undisclosed fee.”
