The summer script is always the same at Roma.

Bryan Cristante is always out of the starting eleven for the new season, but he’s the first player the coaches have deployed over the last few years.

The Italian-Canadian has been a key player in midfield this season, occupying the deep-lying role while Manu Koné is free to attack the spaces.

Gennaro Gattuso has decided not to count on the Giallorossi number 4 for his first matches as national team coach, but he stated in a press conference that he is part of the coaching project.

He scored a brace against Roma City and, according to Il Corriere dello Sport, is preparing to become a permanent fixture in the Giallorossi starting lineup.

The transfer rumors about him being away from Trigoria or the new signings aren’t affecting Cristante, who has always worked hard to earn a starting spot.

He’s also preparing to become Roma’s new regular captain. “The armband will go to the player with the most appearances,” Gasperini said, quelling rumors about the armband’s hierarchy.

The number 4 player is second in the appearance rankings. El Shaarawy is first with 322 appearances, followed by the midfielder with 320.
