Cristian Chivu inspired Inter Milan to a comfortable 2-0 victory over perennial Serie A strugglers Cagliari on Saturday night.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, that win saw the Nerazzurri eclipse last season’s point tally after the first five rounds.
Inter Milan missed out on the Scudetto by an inch last term, finishing a point behind Napoli.
However, Simone Inzaghi oversaw only two wins in the first five matches of the 2024/25 season.
In addition to losing to AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina, Inter shared the spoils with Genoa and Monza.
Therefore, they had only amassed eight points after the opening five matches.

Despite losing back-to-back games to Udinese and Juventus, Inter have returned to winning ways.
Indeed, Cristian Chivu has overseen consecutive wins over Sassuolo and Cagliari.
In doing so, the 44-year-old has helped Inter put nine points on the board, effectively beating last season’s tally.
Moreover, the Nerazzurri will be odds-on to make it three in a row when they take on Cremonese next weekend.
