Deportivo Madryn have reshaped their football setup, with the club saying in a statement that Cristian Díaz is stepping down as head coach of the Primera Nacional side to become sporting director.
In his new post, Díaz will act as a link between the board and the professional and amateur squads, assisting with the club’s overall sporting planning.
Díaz took charge at the start of the current season and oversaw 16 matches, recording six wins, six draws and four defeats.
His tenure featured constant rotation. He used 24 players across those 16 games and only twice named an unchanged starting XI, seeking alternatives for each opponent that rarely paid off.
Recently, Madryn lost at home to Ferro Carril Oeste, responded with a win in Resistencia against Chaco For Ever, then drew consecutively with Acassuso and San Telmo.
A new head coach is due to be named in the coming hours, tasked with guiding the side through the second half of the tournament and keeping alive hopes of challenging for the promotion places.
