Manchester United are nearing the announcement of Cristian Orozco’s transfer from Fortaleza CEIF.

Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra, who broke the story of United’s agreement in principle for the young midfielder last year, has now shared more details about the impending transfer.

According to Sierra, Orozco will travel to England this Sunday alongside Giuseppe Antonaccio, United’s chief scout, who convinced the club to make a move for the exciting prospect.

It is understood that Orozco will undergo medical tests before being announced as United’s latest signing.

Furthermore, it has been revealed that the new arrival will be part of the club’s Under-21s’ pre-season training camp in Germany.

An agreement was reached between all parties in September of last year, but the 17-year-old continued to play for Fortaleza CEIF for the remainder of the campaign, as United had to wait for him to turn 18 before the talented midfielder could formally seal the dream move.

Who is Cristian Orozco

The defensive midfielder, who captains Colombia at Under-17 level, caught the attention of Europe’s top clubs with his aggressive style of play and ball recovery.

The right-footed midfielder has drawn comparisons to Chelsea star Moisés Caicedo due to his physicality and defensive awareness.

Orozco came through the ranks at Club de Pies a Cabeza and is a product of the Academia Rojo FC youth academy.

The Colombian prodigy will arrive in Manchester with a similar profile to Sekou Kone, who was signed from Malian club Guidars FC in the 2024 summer transfer window.

While Orozco and Kone have been signed with an eye on the future, United have now set their sights on another 17-year-old, who is already ready to make a difference at senior level.

Manchester United monitoring Gilberto Mora

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are ready to rival Europe’s elite to sign Mexican wonderkid Gilberto Mora.

The 17-year-old midfielder has already established himself as a first-team player for Liga MX outfit Club Tijuana, having made his senior debut at the age of 15.

Mature beyond his years, Mora is also raising eyebrows during the ongoing World Cup in North America, having made two promising appearances for Mexico.

It is believed United were “among a host of European giants represented at the Azteca Stadium” to watch the midfield sensation against the Czech Republic on Wednesday. Mora’s display in his first start at the grand stage was rewarded with a standing ovation from the home crowd.
