Cristian Tello has retired from professional football, announcing the decision in a social media post on Sunday.

The Spanish winger turned 35 on 11 August. His career comprised 512 games, 91 goals and 71 assists across six leagues.

Tello played for Barcelona, Betis, Fiorentina and Porto, and lifted La Liga and the Copa del Rey. He had been without a club since leaving Palm City in the United Arab Emirates earlier this year.

At senior international level he earned one Spain cap, against Ecuador in 2013.

He won the European Under-21 Championship in 2013 and represented Spain at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
