Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli addressed the media in the build-up to last night’s gut-wrenching home draw against Parma. The former Napoli chief executive shared his thoughts on the team’s Scudetto chances and praised Ange-Yoan Bonny.
Recently linked with a move to Juventus, Bonny led the line for Parma last night. However, he failed to add to his three-goal Serie A haul. Instead, Enrico Delprato and Simon Sohm found the net for the Crusaders, who held Thiago Motta’s side to a stunning 2-2 stalemate.
It’s no secret that Juventus are in the market for Dusan Vlahovic’s deputy. The Serbian striker has blown hot and cold at the beginning of Motta’s tenure. With Arkadiusz Milik dealing with a long-term injury, the Turin heavyweights need a backup striker.
Meanwhile, Juventus could return to the market to reinforce their backline after losing Gleison Bremer to a season-ending injury. But until the January transfer window opens its door to Giuntoli, Motta will have to work with the players at his current disposal.
“We work every day while waiting for January,” Giuntoli said as he recalled the enthralling Derby d’Italia. “It could have gone worse, but it could have also gone better. The team never gave up, sometimes succeeding, other times less so.”
Juventus trail Napoli by seven points after posting their sixth league draw this term. However, Giuntoli refused to rule the Bianconeri out of contention for the Scudetto.
