Cristiano Ronaldo has added another investment to his extensive portfolio after acquiring 25% of Spanish second tier side Almería.
The club announced the news of CR7 Sports Investments' acquisition of 25% of the club in a statement today: "Cristiano Ronaldo has acquired 25% of the shares in UD Almería through CR7 Sports Investments, a subsidiary of CR7 S.A., marking an important step in the continued expansion of both the club and the Portuguese businessman's investment portfolio.
"This agreement is part of the international expansion of the entity being carried out by President Mohamed Al Khereiji through his business conglomerate SMC Group."
Speaking about the acquisition Cristiano Ronaldo, who of course works in Saudi Arabia where SMC Group is based, said: "For a long time, my ambition has been to contribute to football beyond the pitch. UD Almería is a club with a solid foundation and clear potential for growth. I look forward to working with the management team to support the club's next phase of growth."
Almería are currently third in the Segunda División, also known as La Liga 2, one point behind Castellón and two behind Racing Santander who are in the automatic promotion spots.
