Cristiano Ronaldo faces a race to be fit for Portugal's final camp before the 2026 World Cup, with a hamstring issue casting doubt over his involvement in March. He limped out of Al-Nassr’s latest outing in Saudi Arabia.

He was substituted in the 81st minute against Al-Fayha. The club said in a statement that he has a hamstring injury, has begun a rehabilitation programme and will be assessed daily.

The setback lands as Roberto Martinez prepares to name his squad for friendlies against Mexico on 28 March and the United States on 31 March, seen as key preparation for the summer tournament.

It is also a blow to Al-Nassr's title push, with the 41-year-old on 21 goals this season. Medical staff are managing his recovery, and the nature of muscle problems at this stage of a career often demands caution.

The injury update arrived amid speculation about his whereabouts following regional instability. Claims he had left Saudi Arabia were played down, with Al-Nassr publishing images of him working at their training base.

The Portuguese federation will monitor developments before Martinez finalises his list. If Ronaldo is unavailable, Portugal would need to test alternative options in attack against North American opponents.
