Cristiano Ronaldo has offered a positive fitness update from Madrid as Al-Nassr prepare to face Neom in the Saudi Pro League without their captain on Saturday evening.

According to Goal.com, the 41-year-old is undergoing rehabilitation in Spain after a muscular problem prompted a short-term switch to Europe. Al-Nassr sit second, one point behind Al-Ahli with a game in hand, and could go top with victory tonight.

On social media Ronaldo wrote: "Recovering and ready to watch the game today. Let's go, Al Nassr!"

Manager Jorge Jesus said in his pre-match briefing that tests showed the injury was worse than first feared and required rest and treatment, adding that Ronaldo travelled to Spain for specialist care in Madrid.

Medical assessments have identified a significant tear in the back of his right thigh, and the forward flew by private jet to the Spanish capital this week to accelerate recovery with his long-term team. The initial outlook suggested at least a month out.

The timing is awkward for club and country, with a minimum four-week timeline placing Portugal’s friendlies against Mexico and the United States in jeopardy for Roberto Martinez’s side. Domestically, Al-Nassr have also had their Asian Champions League 2 tie with Al Wasl postponed, squeezing an already demanding schedule.
