Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly become the first billionaire footballer after agreeing a new Al-Nassr deal, with Bloomberg claiming his net worth is USD 1.4 billion.
The forward joined the Saudi Pro League in 2023. At Al-Nassr, he is paid the highest average annual salary for a sportsperson, and earnings in Saudi Arabia are tax-free. He and Lionel Messi had similar earnings for much of their careers, before Ronaldo’s move to Saudi and Messi’s switch to Major League Soccer in the United States.
The report said he earned over USD 550 million in European salaries from 2002 to 2023. It added a decade-long Nike contract brings in USD 18 million a year, with other deals, including Armani and Castrol, adding more than USD 175 million.
Since the move, he has earned around USD 200 million a year in salary and bonuses. The package also included a USD 30 million signing bonus.
In June 2025 he reportedly signed an extension, described as the deal that pushed him past the threshold. The new terms are said to exceed USD 400 million, along with a 15% stake in Al-Nassr.
Supported by more than 660 million Instagram followers, a substantial real estate portfolio and several business ventures, Ronaldo is set to remain among the world’s top earners even after retirement.
