Cristiano Ronaldo is gearing up for what could be his final tilt at Asian glory with Al-Nassr in the AFC Champions League Elite, with Ange Postecoglou set to manage the forward’s workload.

According to Arriyadiyah, Al-Nassr’s medical staff could clear Kingsley Coman to face Al Ain in the continental opener on Tuesday, 15 September. The winger has been ruled out of Saturday’s Saudi Pro League match against Al-Khaleej as Postecoglou is expected to rotate and limit minutes for key players.

Coman sustained a hamstring problem against Al-Ittihad, though an MRI brought encouraging news, confirming only a mild tear. He is continuing his recovery programme at the training ground.

The Frenchman has endured a frustrating start to the season, with no goals or assists in six appearances. Even so, his one-v-one threat and delivery remain important alongside Ronaldo.

Dubbed Mr Champions League in Europe after five titles, Ronaldo is intent on adding an Asian crown in what is his third tournament campaign with Al-Nassr.

The following year brought eight goals in eight, but Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale halted Al-Nassr in the semi-finals with a 3-2 victory.
