Cristiano Ronaldo was injured during Al-Nassr’s 3-1 league win over Al-Fayha on Saturday.
On Tuesday the club said in a statement that he has a hamstring tendon issue, has started a rehabilitation programme, and will be assessed day by day. Al-Nassr are the current leaders of the Saudi Pro League.
His absence is estimated at two to four weeks, and could extend to a month depending on how he responds.
The Portugal forward, 41, has 226 caps.
There is no immediate concern over his participation at the World Cup, which runs from 11 June-19 July.
