Cristiano Ronaldo’s private jet has left Saudi Arabia for Madrid amid surging regional violence, with the US embassy in Riyadh struck by drones during the night. Iranian state media claimed a building in Bahrain was also destroyed.
Flight-tracking data shows a Bombardier Global Express made the seven-hour journey, departing at eight pm and landing in the Spanish capital just before one am local time. The route ran over Egypt and the Mediterranean.
Ronaldo may have joined a wider exodus of foreign nationals, potentially travelling with partner Georgina Rodriguez and his five children. Questions are being asked over whether he has temporarily quit the Middle East.
The Portugal international acquired a Bombardier Global 6500 in 2024, worth about £61 million, replacing the Gulfstream G200 he bought in 2015. The aircraft can carry up to 15 passengers and includes lounge seating and sleeping quarters.
On the pitch, the 41-year-old is currently sidelined after suffering a muscle injury in Al-Nassr’s last Saudi Pro League outing against Al-Fahya, shortly after returning from strike action. Al-Nassr and Al-Wasl’s Asian Champions League Two quarter-final first leg has been postponed due to the escalating situation, while East Region fixtures are set to proceed as scheduled.
