Petar Sucic spent 70 minutes on the pitch last night as Croatia thumped Montenegro 4-0 at Zagreb’s Maksimir Stadium.

In doing so, Zlatko Dalic’s side maintained their 100% win ratio in the ongoing World Cup qualifying campaign.

Furthermore, they’ve taken another significant step toward reaching the final tournament for the fourth time on the trot.

Despite sitting level on points with the Czech Republic in Group L, the Croats have a game in hand.

Therefore, they are in pole position to qualify for next summer’s competition in North America.

However, the 21-year-old insists he will deal with World Cup matters when the time comes.

For the moment, he remains focused on his commitments in Serie A and the Champions League.

“It was a great victory,” Sucic said after last night’s rout of Montenegro.

“We dominated and secured six points from these two matches, which was our goal, and we didn’t concede any goals.

“So we can be satisfied.”

Asked whether he ever thinks about performing at the World Cup, Sucic replied: “Well, no, honestly, I have a lot of commitments with the club [Inter] and the national team right now.

“The goal is to make sure we can play in the World Cup. Once we qualify, we’ll think about it.”

Then, Sucic praised AC Milan newcomer Luka Modric.

“I’m happy to play every single minute with him. No matter how good you are, with Modric, you become twice as strong.

“I really enjoy it, and I hope he plays for a long time so I can have fun on the pitch with him.”

Finally, he explained how it felt to return to Maksimir.

“I’m thrilled. It was a pleasure to come back, and I can’t wait to return.”
