Cruzeiro eyeing move for Corinthians youth prospect, claims journalist

On the afternoon of this Monday (17th), journalist Pedro Ramiro from Record reported that Cruzeiro is interested in signing forward Pedrinho, born in 2006 and developed in Corinthians' youth academy. Currently, the young player wears the colors of Zenit, Russia, since the beginning of last year.

Additionally, the journalist also mentioned that the Russians wish to sell the player for 30 million euros (about R$ 184 million). In the mid-2005 transfer window, Al-Ittihad from Saudi Arabia made an offer of 35 million euros (more than R$ 200 million), but negotiations did not advance.

If the sale had been completed at the time, in theory, Corinthians would have been entitled to 30% of the player's economic rights. However, ge.globo published an article during that same period stating that Corinthians had given up what they still held of the young player to the businessman Fernando Garcia, the player's agent and owner of Elenko Sports, due to a debt with him.

The negotiation took place secretly during the administration of the ousted president Augusto Melo (January 2024 to May 2025), and the club's regulatory bodies were not properly informed. As a result, Corinthians retained only 2.5% related to FIFA's Solidarity Mechanism, as the player's training club.

Pedrinho, although he did not have much space in the professional team – one goal in 22 matches – was one of the main revelations from Corinthians' youth academy, being part of a generation that included Léo Maná, João Pedro Tchoca, Murillo, Gabriel Moscardo, Guilherme Biro, Wesley, and Felipe Augusto.

In 2023, he was promoted to the professional squad, then led by Fernando Lázaro, and had opportunities with Vanderlei Luxemburgo and Mano Menezes. The young player, then 17 years old, was sold to Zenit, Russia, in the middle of that year for 9 million euros (about R$ 50 million). Corinthians gave up 50% of the player's rights to the Russian club at the time.

Counting the Under-17 and 20 categories of Corinthians, he scored 13 goals in 33 games. In 2021, he was the state champion with the Corinthians Under-17 team in a final against Palmeiras at Allianz Parque. Since arriving at Zenit, he has scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in 59 games.
