Cruzeiro will be without midfield anchor Lucas Romero for Wednesday’s meeting with Flamengo at the Maracanã after he suffered a fracture to his left rib in Sunday’s Campeonato Mineiro final. He will not travel to Rio de Janeiro.

The club said the injury occurred at 36 minutes of the second half against Atlético-MG, and that Romero will follow conservative treatment with no surgery required. Treatment has begun within the Health and Performance department, and no recovery timeframe has been provided.

Forward Bruno Rodrigues is also out of the match, confirmed on Monday night, after a right thigh muscle strain. He has been understudy to Kaio Jorge.

Without Romero, Tite is expected to start Walace. The midfielder had been linked with a move to Flamengo on several occasions, but the Rio side stepped away and Cruzeiro brought him back from Udinese in Italy.

Kick-off is at 21:30 Brasília time in the fifth round of the Brasileirão. Globo will show the game to much of Brazil on free-to-air, while GETV on YouTube will carry it alongside pay-per-view Premiere. Flamengo are chasing their first home league win of 2026.
