Crystal Dunn named 2021 Concacaf Women’s Player of the Year | OneFootball

Portland Thorns star Crystal Dunn has been announced as the 2021 Concacaf Women’s Player of the Year for her contributions to the US women’s national team.

Dunn was selected based on a football first voting system, which included the participation of coaches and players from Concacaf’s 41 member nations and media members from the region. Fans were also allowed to vote.

Dunn served as a key figure for the USWNT that won the Bronze medal at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo after starting all six matches and playing 554 minutes overall. The winger also featured for the U.S. in the 2021 SheBelieves Cup, where the American side lifted the trophy over Canada, Brazil and Argentina.

Additionally, she featured in 10 international friendlies with the USWNT to lead a record of nine victories, one draw and no losses. Overall, with Dunn on the field in 2021, the USWNT had a 13W-3D-2L record.

Her stellar 2021 campaign comes off the heels of a successful career in Concacaf, having won the Women’s Under-20 Championships in 2010 and 2012, Dunn also won the Golden Boot with six goals at the 2016 Concacaf Women’s Olympic Qualifying Championship.

Dunn also starred at the 2018 Concacaf Championship and 2020 CWOQ, garnering a spot in the Best XI of both tournaments, while also helping the U.S lift the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup trophy with another Best XI honor.
