Guehi ‘can't even walk’ after suffering foot injury and is likely to be ruled out for England matches against Serbia and Albania
Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi looks set to miss England's final two World Cup qualifying games after suffering a foot injury.
Palace manager Oliver Glasner has revealed Guehi “can't even walk” after sustaining “a heavy bone bruise” in their 3-1 win over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday.
Guehi was injured in an incident at the end of the AZ game as he conceded a yellow card.
The defender missed Palace’s Premier League clash with rivals Brighton on Sunday and Glasner provided an update on his fitness ahead of that game.
“Overnight he couldn't sleep, it was so painful and the next day we assessed him and it was a heavy bone bruise," Glasner told Sky Sports.
“He was walking on crutches the last two days and couldn't even step on his foot. “Fortunately nothing is broken, but at the moment he can't even walk. It looks like he will miss England's games, but after, maybe in 10-14 days hopefully he can return to training and be available again.”
England, who have already qualified for next summer’s World Cup, face Serbia at Wembley on Thursday before playing Albania in Tirana next Sunday.
Players are due to report for England duty on Monday.
Guehi has emerged as a key player for England under Thomas Tuchel. John Stones, Ezri Konsa and Jarell Quansah are the other centre-backs in the England squad.
