Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Marc Guehi will leave the club next year.
Guehi has turned down the option to extend his contract at Crystal Palace, which expires at the end of the current campaign. Several of Europe’s leading teams are interested in the club captain, including Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Guehi saw a deadline day move to Liverpool collapse in the summer, after Palace failed to secure a suitable replacement in time. The Reds remain keen to sign the 25-year-old but will face considerable competition for his services.
Glasner has confirmed that Guehi has informed the club that he will not sign a new contract and will leave next year. If a transfer is not agreed in the January transfer window, the Eagles will lose the England international on a free transfer in the summer.
“Marc has already told us that he [won’t] sign a new contract, so he will leave next year,” Glasner said ahead of this weekend’s clash against Bournemouth.
“The club wanted [him to stay]. They offered Marc a new contract. But he said, ‘No, I want to make something different’. And that’s normal.”
