Crystal Palace, Everton and Fulham are all considering activating the £9m release clause in Wilferd Ndidi’s contract at Leicester City.
Ndidi is available for just £9m due to a relegation release clause in his contract at the King Power Stadium. The 28-year-old has made 298 appearances across nine seasons at Leicester but is expected to move on after the club’s relegation to the Championship.
Clubs in Saudi Arabia and the Premier League are considering triggering his clause, including Palace, Everton and Fulham. The Nigeria international’s ball-winning and modest price tag all appeal to the trio.
Despite a difficult season for Leicester, Ndidi ranks in the top 10% of Premier League midfielders this season for tackles won, blocks, clearances, and aerial duels won per 90 minutes. He has twice topped the Premier League for tackles, leading the division on the metric in 2017/18 and 2018/19.
Ndidi is set to be one of several Leicester players who leave after relegation. Jamie Vardy will depart as a free agent when his contract expires. The 38-year-old is set to play his 500th and final game for the Foxes against Ipswich this weekend.
