Crystal Palace want Odilon Kossounou to replace Marc Guehi, according to TuttoAtalanta.
Kossounou has been a mainstay in Atalanta’s first team this term, helping to keep two clean sheets in 10 league appearances.
However, Atalanta are not considering selling Kossounou in January. They are aware of the interest, but only a substantial offer will change their stance.
The 6ft 3ins centre-back would be a stellar addition to Palace’s ranks, but they may have to wait until next summer before they can sign him.
Kossounou could be worth the wait. The 24-year-old Ivorian enjoyed an outstanding spell at Club Brugge, where he won two league titles and the cup.
Following his switch to Germany, he was part of the Bayer Leverkusen squad that made history, winning the Bundesliga unbeaten and claiming the DFB-Pokal.
He was also a key player in the Ivory Coast side that clinched the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Even though he is a freakishly imposing centre-back, his athleticism also allows him to shine at right-back when his team needs him there.
His experience playing in a back three would be a plus for Palace manager Oliver Glasner.
His international experience, physicality, versatility and experience in winning environments make him a compelling replacement for Guehi.
It is unclear whether Palace will pull out all the stops to sign him in the winter transfer window or wait until the summer before trying to get a deal over the line.
