Crystal Palace are among several Premier League clubs considering a move for Yvan Neyou, with the Leganés midfielder set to depart La Liga this summer. As reported by TEAMtalk, “Crystal Palace are among the clubs who have joined the race to sign LaLiga midfielder Yvan Neyou, who will be on the move in the summer window.”
Fulham and Palace have both made initial enquiries but are yet to formalise their interest with concrete offers. While Valencia are believed to be leading the chase, English clubs are monitoring the situation closely and could yet tip the scales in their favour.
Neyou has emerged as a rare bright spot in a troubled season for 19th-placed Leganés. Despite the club’s struggles, the 27-year-old Cameroonian has demonstrated composure, defensive discipline, and consistency—qualities that have stood out amid chaos. His performances have now made him a compelling free-agent prospect as his contract nears expiry.

Palace’s interest appears well-timed. The South London club face the risk of losing key figures in midfield, particularly amid growing speculation around Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton. While Eze is a more advanced presence, the threat of losing him due to his desire to play European football next season adds urgency to Palace’s summer planning.
As TEAMtalk also reports, “Adam Wharton is… generating serious interest from Liverpool… and the midfielder will cost £80million if he’s to be sold.” If either Eze or Wharton departs, the need for midfield reinforcements becomes more than just strategic—it becomes essential.
Neyou, with his controlled style and defensive balance, could complement a midfield losing some of its attacking flair. And with the player available on a free, the deal offers financial prudence, especially at a time when top-flight clubs are increasingly cautious with spending under financial regulations.
It’s not just the midfield under scrutiny at Selhurst Park. Up front, Jean-Philippe Mateta has drawn interest from Manchester United, with TEAMtalk stating “the Frenchman himself is keen on heading to Old Trafford.” A summer exit is a growing possibility.
At the back, Chelsea are plotting a return for Marc Guehi, their former youth product turned Premier League standout. If the Blues follow through on their interest, Palace’s spine—midfield, attack, and defence—could all be subject to major upheaval.
In that context, players like Neyou, who come with European experience and a stabilising profile, make sense. He may not be a marquee name, but he could be the sort of intelligent acquisition that cushions the loss of flashier assets.

While Valencia are in pole position, the Premier League’s pulling power could yet alter the narrative. TEAMtalk note that “Fulham and Crystal Palace have both made enquiries and are seriously considering joining the race, even though they haven’t made any offers yet.”
Should Palace move decisively after the season ends, they could leap ahead. Neyou’s future, for now, remains open. But one thing is certain: whoever secures his signature is getting a midfielder who’s shown the ability to stay calm in the storm—just the type Palace may need this summer.
From a Palace fan’s point of view, the Neyou links make sense—and feel like the kind of deal we should be exploring. Let’s not pretend he’s coming in to replace Eze or Wharton directly, but if we lose both (or even one), we’ll need experienced players who can slot in and get up to speed quickly.
Yvan Neyou might not bring headlines, but what he does offer is control, discipline, and European pedigree. And in a market where midfielders are going for £80m, the prospect of landing someone like Neyou for free feels like shrewd business. It’s the kind of value we’ve thrived on before—just look at how Marc Guehi turned out.
We also can’t ignore the rumblings about Mateta and Guehi leaving. If the worst happens, we’ll need to rebuild sensibly and with balance. Getting someone like Neyou in early could be part of that plan, easing transition and adding depth.
There’s always a risk with players coming from struggling sides, but his individual consistency tells its own story. It’s one we hope Dougie Freedman is reading closely.
