Crystal Palace are keeping a close eye on Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott as they map out their summer recruitment plans.
The Eagles are monitoring the 23-year-old’s situation at Anfield, identifying him as a prime target to inject creativity into their ranks.
However, any potential move from Selhurst Park remains on hold for now. Elliott is set to be handed a clean slate and a golden opportunity to stake his claim under Andoni Iraola.
The former Bournemouth boss, known for his high-octane pressing style, views pre-season as a crucial evaluation period for the ‘fearless’ playmaker before making a decision over his future.
Elliott’s tactical versatility makes him an attractive option, as he can operate as an attacking midfielder, central midfielder, or right winger.
Despite consistently showing flashes of his potential at Liverpool, Elliott has struggled for regular starts amidst fierce competition in the Reds’ midfield.
He spent last season on loan at Europa League winners Aston Villa but saw limited game time, as Villa opted not to trigger the conditional obligation-to-buy clause in his loan deal.
Liverpool are under no immediate pressure to sell, and Elliott himself remains fully focused on impressing the incoming coaching staff.
Palace, meanwhile, are prepared to play the long game. Decision-makers at Selhurst Park are content to monitor the situation as the transfer window progresses.
If Elliott finds himself on the fringes of Iraola’s plans once the season begins, Palace are ready to move quickly and offer him a leading role in the capital.
