Crystal Palace will have to find their scoring boots in Cyprus after being frustrated by AEK Larnaca at Selhurst Park.

The weather conditions weren't kind to Oliver Glasner's team but that was no excuse for their wastefulness even against stubborn opposition enjoying a 'new-manager bounce'.

Indeed, the Eagles had the vast majority of possession and managed an xG of 2.23 but still weren't able to find a way past goalkeeper Zlatan Alomerovic.

The first chance came inside the first 10 minutes after good work by Jörgen Strand Larsen on the right to set up Evann Guessand who fired straight at Alomerovic.

The German had to be at his best to deny Tyrick Mitchell by getting over to his back post to prevent the Palace man from certainly putting his side ahead.

As the game went on Glasner was able to bring on a much-needed attacking substitution as Jean-Philippe Mateta made his return to action for the first time since almost leaving the club back in January. The striker got some boos for his attempt to force a move.

The Frenchman almost had an instant impact though as a deflected cross came his way but he was unable to steer it home.

In the end, Palace had to settle for a goalless draw to add pressure for their second leg trip next week.
