More opportunities on the way for Nigerian forward after encouraging impact against Fulham

Standard Sport understands there are no plans to cancel the 22-year-old’s loan despite him receiving limited minutes since a summer deadline day move from Getafe.

Uche joined Palace on loan with an obligation to buy if he makes 10 Premier League starts for the Eagles, but has so far played just 44 minutes amid their strong start to the season under Oliver Glasner.

The Nigerian forward made a good impression off the bench during Palace’s 2-1 win over Fulham last weekend, and it is understood that despite a lack of minutes, Uche wants to stay at Palace and help them try to qualify for the Champions League.

Palace currently sit fourth in the Premier League, having lost just three of their opening 15 games.

Glasner will be short on attacking options should Ismaila Sarr recover from an ankle ligament injury and head to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Senegal.

Uche, though, is unlikely to be called up by Nigeria, having been left out of last month’s squad for their World Cup play-off ties against Gabon and DR Congo.

Glasner has called for further attacking reinforcements during the January transfer window, but will have been impressed by Uche’s 24-minute cameo at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

With 23 league games left to play, there remains time for Uche to force his way into the Austrian’s plans.
