Crystal Palace have opened talks with RC Strasbourg to sign Ben Chilwell (29) before the end of the summer transfer window, according to Foot Mercato. The Eagles have identified the former England international as a late target as they look to strengthen their defensive options before the transfer window closes.

Chilwell joined Strasbourg from Stamford Bridge last season and has since made 29 appearances for the Ligue 1 club. The Englishman is no stranger to the Croydon outfit after previously spending time on loan at the club whilst playing for Chelsea.

Palace are now in talks with Strasbourg over a possible transfer, although an agreement between the two clubs has yet to be reached. The London club’s interest comes as they continue to assess their options ahead of the transfer deadline, with Chilwell’s experience potentially making him an attractive addition. Negotiations will have to progress quickly with little time remaining to complete a deal.
