Crystal Palace defender Joel Ward admitted that they were totally “outclassed” by Newcastle United on Saturday.
The Magpies cruised to a 4-0 win at St James’ Park on Saturday, with goals coming from Jacob Murphy, Anthony Gordon, Sean Longstaff and Callum Wilson.
The result continues their seven-game unbeaten run in all competitions and sees them move up to fifth in the Premier League table.

Defeat for Palace means they have won just one of their last five league matches – and have scored just two goals over that period. Ward believes that introspection is needed for the team to improve.
“It was certainly not ideal,” the Eagles captain said after the game. “We all know we can do better and we need to do better. We were outclassed today, it is about how we bounce back from that. In tough times it is about how you respond.
“There are a host of things [that went wrong]. As individuals and as a team we look at ourselves in the mirror. We know we can do better.”
