Crystal Palace have paused their immediate efforts to sign Torino winger Alieu Njie, but remain in the race to bring him to Selhurst Park this summer.

The Swedish attacker broke into the Torino senior side during the 2024/25 season after joining the youth academy in 2021, making 18 appearances across all competitions and finding the net once during the campaign.

However, last season did not see much of an increase in his minutes, with the winger managing fewer than 500 minutes of action while still registering a goal and an assist for Il Toro.

The 21-year-old, who has three years remaining on his contract, has been linked with a move away this summer, with several clubs circling for his signature.

Anderlecht are among those in the mix for the Swede, while Red Bull Salzburg have also made their interest known after seeing an offer rejected, although they remain determined to bridge the gap and bring him on board.

The Austrian side’s latest proposal was in the region of €12m, but Torino have held firm, demanding €20m for the winger.

In the Premier League, Crystal Palace have been the most persistent suitors, submitting multiple bids to bring him into Pierre Sage’s squad, but were most recently said to be ‘considering whether to proceed’ with a move for the winger.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Eagles have now paused their pursuit of Njie but are not yet out of the race to land his signature.

The Serie A side have shown little hesitation about sanctioning his departure, provided their €20m valuation is met, a figure Palace could potentially afford given their financial flexibility this summer.

Only recently, the Glaziers opened their chequebook to sign Israeli winger Anan Khalaili and Zavier Gozo from MLS, while also completing a swap deal that saw Brennan Johnson move to Everton and Dwight McNeil arrive at Selhurst Park.

At the back, Oscar Mingueza and Takehiro Tomiyasu have also arrived on free transfers to bolster the defensive ranks.

It remains to be seen whether the London side will return with another bid for Njie, as they look to add further firepower ahead of a Premier League season that kicks off this weekend, with Europa League football also on the horizon.
