Crystal Palace plan to keep Oliver Glasner in charge until the end of the season following positive talks on Sunday. According to NY Times, the club intend to retain him despite recent turbulence.

After the 2-1 defeat at Sunderland on Saturday, Glasner said he felt abandoned and would not guarantee he would remain until summer. On Friday he had confirmed he will leave when his contract expires in June and voiced anger at the sale of captain Marc Guehi to Manchester City.

Palace’s position is unchanged, they are planning for him to lead the UEFA Conference League campaign and remaining Premier League fixtures. They are also actively pursuing transfers for this month and the summer.

Sporting director Matt Hobbs held conciliatory talks with Glasner, while chairman Steve Parish has not been directly involved.

The loss at Sunderland extended Palace’s winless run to 10 matches. Glasner made no substitutions, saying he lacked viable options on the bench, and later criticised the board over Guehi’s departure and limited backing, citing Eberehci Eze’s sale to Arsenal the day before a summer game.

The hierarchy aim to calm tensions and focus on results with Glasner, who delivered the FA Cup in May and the Community Shield in August. The return of Daniel Munoz and Ismaila Sarr for Sunday’s game at Chelsea will go some way to helping that.
