Crystal Palace are not panicking about the future of manager Oliver Glasner, even as he enters the final year of his contract, according to Sky Sports.
The Austrian has already etched his name into the club’s history books after leading them to the FA Cup title last season, their first major trophy.
There has been plenty of speculation about where his future lies, although he has also been quick to shut down any rumours about his long-term commitment.
Speaking last week, Glasner said that ‘the time will come’ for talks over his future, stressing that the hectic final days of the transfer window had left little room for negotiations.
He also dismissed suggestions that he had threatened to quit if club captain Marc Guehi was sold on deadline day, while making clear there is no rift with chairman Steve Parish.
Palace have yet to open talks over a new contract with Glasner, but it will be a priority for incoming sporting director Matt Hobbs.
The Eagles are convinced that they have one of the best managers in the world and fancy their chances of convincing him to extend his stay at Selhurst Park.
However, they also understand that there’s a chance a major European club could poach him after his impressive work at Palace.
Glasner has previously been linked with some top jobs in Europe, including Bayern Munich. But he has stayed loyal to Palace.
Palace are carrying out due diligence on potential managerial options if Glasner leaves at the end of the season.
