Crystal Palace have signed Evann Guessand on loan from Aston Villa, with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Palace confirmed the move on Friday, following a Thursday report in The Athletic that a loan was close. The option is understood to be worth £28m.

Guessand, 24, joined Villa in August from Nice for €35m, comprising €30m upfront and €5m in add-ons. He has made 21 appearances under Unai Emery, with six Premier League starts, and his two goals have both come in the Europa League. He previously recorded 21 goals and 15 assists in 109 games for Nice, including 13 goals and 10 assists in 2024-25.

Palace chairman Steve Parish said the forward is an exciting talent and that his arrival strengthens their forward line as they aim to push on in the Premier League and in Europe in the second half of the season. He had attracted interest from clubs across Europe.

On 20 January, the report said Palace were weighing up a move after Villa showed interest in Jean-Philippe Mateta. Villa have since signed Tammy Abraham from Besiktas in a €21m deal.

It has been a busy window for Palace, who paid a club-record fee approaching £35m to sign Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur. Captain Marc Guehi left for Manchester City in a £20m transfer, and head coach Oliver Glasner has confirmed he will depart at the end of the season.
