Howat started her senior career with Rangers before enjoying spells with Celtic and Glasgow City. She returned to Rangers in 2020 and worked with Crystal Palace boss Jo Potter in the latter part of her second spell at Ibrox.

The forward is a three-time SWPL1 title-winner while she has also won the Scottish Gas Women’s Scottish Cup and the Sky Sports Cup on two occasions.

On the international stage, Howat has been capped by Scotland on three occasions.

After adding Howat to her squad, Crystal Palace head coach Jo Potter said “I’m delighted to welcome Kirsty to Palace. Having worked with her at Rangers, I know first-hand the quality she possesses. She’s a natural finisher and a great character, and I have no doubt she’ll be a huge asset to the team.”

Howat could make her Crystal Palace debut when the club travel to The Valley to face Charlton Athletic on Sunday.
