Crystal Palace wing-back Daniel Munoz has had knee surgery and will miss the trip to Leeds United on Saturday 21 December, the final Premier League match before Christmas.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Elland Road fixture was moved forward from Sunday due to Palace’s Carabao Cup schedule, and Munoz, who missed the 2-1 win at Fulham, also sat out the Europa Conference League trip to Shelbourne.
Oliver Glasner said Munoz will be out for a few weeks after the operation, with a tentative four to six week timeline. He cautioned surgery brings uncertainties, though the issue does not appear serious.
Palace have just 15 senior players and a heavy workload, 24 matches compared with Leeds’ 16, has taken a toll. Ismaila Sarr has an ankle injury, will miss next weekend in West Yorkshire, then heads to AFCON with Senegal.
Top scorer Jean-Phillipe Mateta is set to miss Shelbourne but is expected back for Leeds. Glasner said he needed rest after a minor knee issue following France duty, and hopes he will train on Friday and be available.
He added that Mateta, Sarr and Munoz leave Palace short on the right, yet they created chances and scored at Fulham and must cope with the schedule.
Leeds will be without Sean Longstaff and Dan James until January due to calf and hamstring tendon issues. Sky Sports data showed Daniel Farke’s squad have sustained the most injuries in the Premier League so far this season.
