Crystal Palace to earn €35m in Jean-Philippe Mateta to Milan move

AC Milan have successfully hijacked Jean-Philippe Mateta’s (28) prospective move to Nottingham Forest with the Frenchman now set to join Serie A giants AC Milan. The 28-year-old Crystal Palace has rejected the opportunity to sign for the Eagles’ Premier League rivals in favour of a move to Massimiliano Allegri’s Rossoneri. L’Equipe understands that Mateta will fly out to Italy tonight before putting pen to paper over a three-and-a-half-year deal with Milan.

The outlet adds that Crystal Palace are set to earn €35m from Mateta’s sale. The Frenchman wanted to join a club able to compete for the Champions League, which is Milan’s case given they are second in the Serie A standings. In Milan, Mateta will link up with several France international teammates like Mike Maignan, Adrien Rabiot and Christopher Nkunku.
