Crystal Palace ‘to step up’ negotiations for Lyon defender Ruben Kluivert | OneFootball

Crystal Palace are stepping up negotiations with Olympique Lyonnais to sign Ruben Kluivert. L’Équipe reports that the 25-year-old centre-back is said to have become their prime defensive target.

Palace remain in the market for a defender after Club Brugge’s Joel Ordóñez, 22, failed a medical.

Lyon, who need sales to balance the books, are open to a departure and value Kluivert at around €20m.

Palace could soon be willing to meet that figure, while another Premier League side and a European club are said to have sounded out the player’s camp.

If a deal is agreed, Kluivert would travel to London as early as this weekend.

Signed from Casa Pia for €3.78m last summer, he had a mixed season for Lyon, making 24 appearances in all competitions with two goals and two assists, and endured several fitness setbacks.
